Pandemic Simulator

Project Requirements: Pandemic simulator to generate outbreaks scenarios using controlled variables.
Scenarios are shown on a dynamic 3D mapping environment with the possibility to show location of critical assets, major infrastructure and humanitarian corridors.
Scenarios are generated from a mathematical model that takes into consideration transport routes, population density and the national health system’s resilience.
The simulation model is made by more than 40 millions geo-referenced records storing indicators values.
The simulation engine, based on a multithreads/multicore algorithm, is able to perform a global simulation in less than 20 minutes.
Indicators values are stored on a 9 square kilometres grid.
Scenarios timeline and spread velocity can be controlled by the user.

Early Warning Food Security Monitor

Project Requirements Early Warning system to monitor food insecurity in development countries. The system is based on a set of primary and secondary indicators that can describe a specific event. The system analize the values inserted by users and compare these with historical data. The results are compared with country specific thresholds and, depending on these, alerts are generated and sent through email or sms world wide

Risk Assessment Guidelines

Project Requirements: Risk Assessment web application to monitor corporate buildings security and attack risk levels in all the countries where WFP is present. Risk calculation and thresholds are fully configurable by system administrators. Risk is calulated on real-time and a full set of reports are generated to highlight weak points.

Field Security Database

Requirements: Multiuser desktop application to monitor field security and manage historical data for trends analysis. Integration with the existing corporate document management system and early warning monitoring systems using standard communication protocols (XML, SOAP over HTTP). The Content Management System is able to manage and provides to non-technical staff to work on geographical information and georeferencing events. News are both automatically retrieved from internet based on themes and search queries, and manually inserted by UNWTO staff. Video and multimedia distribution rely on a Content Delivery Network in order to increase performance and decrease overall system load.

Project Requirements and Description: Contact Center and first emergencies support center to organize and support humanitarian aid during earthquakes. The web application has been used for the Abruzzo earthquake and Messina landslide. The system is connected to a global SMS network and can send more than 50000 sms in 24Hrs. Voice over IP technology is fully supported but not required to run the application. Buildings are automatically geo-coded, when an address is specified, in order to display active requests on a map.
